Last updated: 13:08 Saturday 16th Oct 2004Welcome to youthemerged!I hope you'll find your stay and journey with us a beneficial and enjoyable one insha-allah! If you find that what you're looking for is not addressed here, pls don't hesistate to contact a mod or admin. They're friendly, helpful ppl who are no more special than other users, but they're given the responsibility of housekeeping issues and they're very approachable.
As this is a work in progress (and I may just reword that with each progressive update) it is very likely that after reading this you'll feel ripped off having a few minutes of stolen from you... but I hope you'll forgive me and offer some constructive criticism and drop me a PM.
I think that's a good place to start! [Oh speaking of a good place to start, make sure you visit
this thread!]
1.
What is a PM? A PM is a
Personal Message that is a text message
sent to another user who will read it when they are next online. It is stored on our server and have an indefinate lifetime (we will routinely delete old messages, but at time of wring that time interval hasn't been determined).
2.
Can I delete a posting I created? No, but if you have a valid reason pls contact a mod.
3.
What are these mods and admins?
A
mod is a forum moderator. These individuals ensure that threads are posted in the right forums, that users follow the rules of the board and help out the admins with some housekeeping.
An
admin is an administrator. Though few in number, their mystery is only exceeded by their power... so says Zoltan... erm the admins are lowly janitors who keep the board running smoothly, if something breaks, its most probably due to the lack of an admins attention to the matter... *grumble*
4.
I don't like the 'name' I picked to use on the forums, can I change it? In short... erm no, after all, what's in a name?
If you really have an issue with this... your friends the mods/admins are there to accept generous gifts in exchange for such favours... bank notes are acceptable...
5.
How come I can't upload files to forum_name? Most forums have uploads disabled at this time so that's the reason why. If you think we should enable uploads, pls leave a suggestion in the appropriate forum. If there is enough interest then what the users want shall be! (No guarantees on what has been stated in this paragraph)
6.
I'm a male/female seeking a female/male for a serious relationship, where can I find my soul mate? I'm sorry, I can't help you there, pls refer all requests to your lord in your prayers (insha-allah)
7.
What kinds of questions can I ask the Imams? Pls ask whatever is on your mind. Sometimes fellow users will answer questions for you. If you feel for any reason that you want to ask a question annonymously there is a user account
Login: anonymous
Password: anonymous
This anonymous user has the ability to post in the
Ask the Imam forum only.
8.
What is the Secret Womens Business forum and why can't I access it? If you're male and asking this, I'm sorry to inform you that you're not female and therefore not entitled to read what lies within those forums. If you're asking what is this secret womens business I have no knowledge on that topic, in fact I think I've asked the same thing myself... for us males we'll never know what the secret is... if there even is one...
If you're female and asking this, pls contact one of the mods of the forum, they'll help you out there and get you into the guild of secrets... or whatever it really is?
9.
Why does it say 'Newbie' next to my name when I post? I notice others have something different, can I change that? Every new user starts of with the title of 'Newbie', but as you start more threads, post more replies you'll find that after 10 of such posts that title will change... the rank titles are a "work in progress", but here are the rank levels:
0 - 49 posts
50 - 199 posts

200 - 499 posts

500 - 1000 posts
10.
I keep recieving emails telling me that someone has replied to a thread, how do I stop this? This feature helps users check for replies without looking through the forums themselves, if you wish to disable this
- go into the
User CP - Email Options and remove the
tick(s) from the
Board Preferences section and then click "Amend my email settings".
- Also when posting/replying there is an option to "
Enable email notification of replies?" You might like to check that this isn't ticked.

The times shown in the forums do not match my local time, can I offset it?Indeed you can, indeed you can!
Oh did you want to know how to do that? Heh, right ok, just click on
this, it'll take you to your
User CP, in particular the
Board Settings. Just adjust the time offset to your local time and you're all set!
Don't forget to Log Out after your visits to ensure your access isn't compromisedOh one more thing, please regularly check the
